Sleep is vital for our health and wellbeing. The amount of sleep children need varies as they get older and some children need more sleep than others.

If your child is five or six years old, they should get at least 11 hours sleep. Follow the bedtime trail to help your child get a good night’s sleep. Use the planner on the back page to work out what time your child needs to start their bedtime trail to get 11 hours sleep.

Rochdale Council and Rochdale Borough Safeguarding Children Board have launched a campaign called ‘Safe After School’ to help parents chose safe after school activities for their children.

The Rochdale Parent Carers Voice joins together parents and carers who look after children and young people with SEND to bring positive change from our lived experiences. They listen to families to find out what is important to them and determine whether services across Rochdale, Heywood, Pennines and Middleton meet their needs. They also work in partnership with local authorities, education settings and health providers to highlight where local services, processes and commissioners are working well, or challenge when changes or improvements need to be made.

They are based on the Second Floor, Spotland Bridge Mill, Mellor Street, Rochdale OL11 5BU.

Rochdale Child & Educational Psychology Service is providing a telephone helpline for any parent or carer of a child or young person between the ages of 0-25, who feel they would benefit from a discussion with a psychologist to support them with any concerns arising.

The concerns can be related to education or family life and might include:
• Stress and Anxiety which may be impacting on your child’s ability to feel able to attend school
• Low self-esteem
• Conflict and relationship difficulties within the family
• Difficulties/anxieties related to learning and/or exams
