At St Vincent De Paul RC Primary School, daily collective worship is central to school life and reflects our commitment to nurturing the spiritual development of every child. Prayer is woven into the rhythm of the school day and forms a key part of our Catholic identity.

Daily Worship

Each day begins with the Morning Offering, and pupils say Grace Before Meals and Grace After Meals (sung by KS2) at lunch times. The day concludes with the End of Day Prayer. These moments of prayer help pupils to start, pause, and end each day in the presence of God.

Weekly Worship

  • Daily classroom prayer led by the teacher.
  • A KS1 And a KS2 assembly takes place on Wednesday, which includes collective worship.
  • On Friday, there is either a whole school assembly led by a year group or each class leads or participates in a time of prayer and worship in class.
  • Staff also gather for an act of collective worship, led by a member of staff, on the first Friday of each month (The First Friday Reflection), before the start of the school day.
  • Each staff meeting begins with an act of collective worship, led by a different member of staff each week.

Prayer Progression

Our school follows a structured prayer progression to support pupils in developing a deepening prayer life as they move through the school:

  • Reception (R): Sign of the Cross; KS1 Morning Offering; End of the Day Prayer; Grace Before and After Meals
  • Year 1: All of the above, plus the Hail Mary
  • Year 2: All of the above, plus the Our Father and the Glory Be
