I am delighted to share with you some wonderful news that will further enhance our commitment to inclusive education at St Vincent de Paul RC Primary School. We are thrilled to announce that we have been successful in securing additional Special Educational Needs (SEN) funding, which will be used to create a bespoke sensory room within our school.
This specially designed space will provide a calming, engaging and therapeutic environment tailored to support pupils with sensory processing difficulties, emotional dysregulation, autism spectrum conditions, and a range of other additional needs. It will also be a valuable resource for any child who may need time and space to self-regulate, reflect or simply find a moment of peace during the school day.
Research and experience show that sensory rooms can significantly enhance children’s ability to engage with learning by reducing anxiety, supporting emotional wellbeing, and helping them to feel more grounded and secure. By offering a dedicated space like this, we are taking another important step in our mission to ensure that every child—regardless of need—can thrive, feel valued, and reach their full potential.
While the room will be particularly beneficial for pupils with SEND, we believe it will be an asset to all children in our school. Whether used as part of a structured support plan or for general wellbeing, the sensory room will reflect our deeply held Catholic values of inclusion, compassion and care for the whole child.
As a school community, we are inspired daily by our patron saint, St Vincent de Paul, who dedicated his life to serving those most in need—especially vulnerable children. In following his example, we are committed to ensuring that our school remains a place where all pupils are supported, loved and encouraged to shine in their own unique way.
We look forward to updating you further as work on the sensory room progresses and we prepare to launch this exciting new provision in the coming months.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support and for walking with us on this journey of faith, inclusion and learning.
Warm regards,
Mrs M. Brooks
