Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)
At our school, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is an important part of our curriculum and supports our mission to enable every child to grow, flourish and live life to the full.
Rooted in our Catholic faith and Gospel values, PSHE helps our children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to become confident, healthy, responsible and caring members of their communities.
Through PSHE, children are supported to:
- develop their emotional wellbeing and resilience
- understand how to keep themselves healthy and safe
- make informed and responsible choices
- understand their rights and responsibilities
- develop respect for themselves and others
- understand British Values and what it means to be an active citizen
- develop an age-appropriate understanding of money and economic wellbeing
- appreciate diversity and recognise the importance of equality, respect and inclusion
- understand their role within their local community and the wider world.
PSHE is taught progressively from Early Years to Year 6, with learning carefully planned to build upon children’s previous knowledge and experiences. It is also strengthened through our wider curriculum, assemblies, prayer and liturgy, pastoral provision, pupil leadership opportunities and the wider life of the school.
