Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

At our school, Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) is an important part of our curriculum and supports our mission to enable every child to grow, flourish and live life to the full.

Rooted in our Catholic faith and Gospel values, PSHE helps our children develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to become confident, healthy, responsible and caring members of their communities.

Through PSHE, children are supported to:

  • develop their emotional wellbeing and resilience
  • understand how to keep themselves healthy and safe
  • make informed and responsible choices
  • understand their rights and responsibilities
  • develop respect for themselves and others
  • understand British Values and what it means to be an active citizen
  • develop an age-appropriate understanding of money and economic wellbeing
  • appreciate diversity and recognise the importance of equality, respect and inclusion
  • understand their role within their local community and the wider world.

PSHE is taught progressively from Early Years to Year 6, with learning carefully planned to build upon children’s previous knowledge and experiences. It is also strengthened through our wider curriculum, assemblies, prayer and liturgy, pastoral provision, pupil leadership opportunities and the wider life of the school.

Our PSHE provision works alongside our separate Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) curriculum. Further information about RSHE can be found on the dedicated RSHE section of our website.

Our PSHE Subject Leader is Mrs T. McGrail.

From September 2026, revised statutory guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) came into effect nationally. Schools are required to have regard to this guidance and to ensure that parents and carers are informed about the RSHE curriculum and the materials used to teach it.

As a Catholic school, we teach RSHE and PSHE through Ten Ten Resources – Life to the Full, a Catholic programme developed specifically to support Catholic schools in delivering RSHE. It is rooted in the teaching and wisdom of the Catholic Church and places our Catholic faith at the heart of this important area of learning. The programme is founded on the belief that every person is created and loved by God and has a unique dignity and value.

We believe that parents and carers are the first and most important educators of their children, particularly in matters relating to relationships, growing up and family life. We therefore want to work closely with you and ensure that you know what your child will be learning in school.

Ten Ten provides a secure Parent Portal, which enables you to explore the programme and see the themes and resources your child will encounter.

The website address for our Ten Ten Scheme ‘Life to the Full Plus’ is:

Login Details for Parents were shared in the newsletter dated 25th September.

We warmly encourage you to spend some time looking through the resources. We hope that access to the Parent Portal will not only help you understand what is being taught in school, but will also give you useful information and tools to support conversations with your child at home.

By working together, we can help our children develop the knowledge, confidence and understanding they need as they grow, while ensuring that their learning is grounded in our shared Catholic values of love, dignity, respect and care for one another.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and partnership.
